On March 8th and 9th, 2018 I worked a San Diego graphic recording event at the 2018 Industry of Things World USA event held at the San Diego Hilton in Mission Bay.
The Industry of Things World USA is an event focused on Industrial IoT(Internet of things) and its impact on business models and production processes across major industries. It’s a gathering of senior executives that want to learn more about what’s happening in the space and grow their connections in the Industrial Internet.
In total, I did graphic recording for 21 sessions – 14 on day one and 7 on day 2. Below are a few snapshots of some of the sessions- 5 keynotes and 2 regular sessions.
Day 1 began with a keynote talk by Ken Goldberg as he talked about cloud robotics. His talk focused on what he called ‘the new wave of robot grasping’ and he spoke about some of the learnings and experiments they are doing in the field.
Tara MacNair’s talk happened mid-day on Day 1 and focused on the IoT journey, how organizations need to change, and the role of leadership in fostering a change culture.
As Day 1 progressed, Edward Olson gave a pointed talk about some of the guiding philosophies of his division at John Deere.
During the last portion of Day 1, Eric Schaeffer of Accenture gave a keynote talk on innovation driven growth and shared real world examples that are incorporating AI and product innovation.
The final session of Day 1 was a keynote talk by Keith Shea of Wind River and his talk focused on the concept of the first-mover advantage. He went into several examples of this and how companies are taking action and changing industrial IoT.
Day 2 began with a keynote talk by Caralynn Collens of UI Labs. Her talk focused on what she called ‘workforce society 4.0’. With a good blend of considering technology and how people interact with it, she left the crowd with good for thought when it comes to engaging a harmonious technological future.
A second keynote talk during the morning session of Day 2 was Rahul Garg’s talk about cultivating a business first mindset in the age of intelligent cloud and intelligent edge. He shared some of the mindsets at Microsoft and challenged the people in the room not to take their companies for granted.
There were 14 other sessions I had the pleasure to do graphic recordings for too. All in all, this was a very enjoyable and enlightening event with a lot of intelligent people doing their part to create a better workplace and world using technology.
