Animated Educational Videos
Sometimes, an Animated Education Video has more impact, memorability, and reach then having a regular talking head style video to deliver information.
It’s during those times when we like to help-and we definitely can!
Video Spotlight: Trauma And The Nervous System
This video, created for both The Trauma Foundation and Polyvagal Institute in 2021, has garnered 1 million+ views in its various editions. It’s helped to spread awareness and educate about Trauma and its impact on the nervous system.

Bill Frist Interview With SnapShot Interactive
This video is a blend of live-interview footage and black-and-white 2D animation. Bill First (a former U.S. senator and MD)is interviewed and answers some low-key questions about his work and what it’s like living in Tennessee.
This animation project was something that I enjoyed as I was tasked with brining some levity and playfulness to an arena (politics) that usually doesn’t have much of that!
I worked to make the interviewee more relatable by using everyday imagery that showed the human, caring element of a local politician
Tactical Tangents Podcast - Micromanaging
Tactical Tangents is a podcast between Mike Doyle, a Police Officer from Arizona and K9 handler and Jim a military pilot and Air Force Academy graduate.
Mike was looking to create an animation that gave life to their home studio, their characters, and to create a setting to tell stories in interview format.
This video was a blast to create, as it involved turning 2 guys into animated characters, Mike’s K9 into a character. Mike encouraged a good balance of straightforward storytelling and adding humorous elements where it fit. He also wanted the animation to be a form of more simple, ‘stop-motion’ style animation.
Give it a watch and see what you think!
The Power of TED by David Emerald: FISBE Golf
The Power of Ted by David Emerald is a powerful, straightforward and clear book with easy-to-understand ideas that can help you become a more satisfied, powerful creator.
When I read David’s concept FISBE (which says that your Focus determines Inner State which determines Behavior), I couldn’t help but think of the game of Frisbee Golf. So I took the idea of FISBE and applied the Frisbee analogy to transform the idea! The idea was good enough to grab the attention of David Emerald himself, who used the video for his own purposes too.
At the heart of some of my most playful creativity is putting my own spin on how to present ideas. If you need a ‘boost’ to your already strong ideas, I’d would love to see if I can help you make something unique too!
Animated Education Videos: Animated Book Reviews
I, Nick, began creating my own form of animated reviews on YouTube which was discovered by the leadership at Callibrain, Inc., a software company. While employed by Callibrain, I created a video library of 30+ hand-animated review videos. At the time of their creation, these type of videos were the ‘first of their kind’. They have since went on to garner over 3 million views and help build a channel of 20k+ subscribers.
Below are a few of my favorite review videos created during my time working with Callibrain. If you’re interested in seeing all 30+ reviews, just click on the text below and it will take you to YouTube to see them all!
Video Review for Switch by Chip and Dan heath
The book Switch by Chip and Dan Heath is a book about learning to change behavior when change is hard.
This review ‘stuck’ with our audience because it piggybacked on the ‘Elephant and The Rider’ visual that was introduced within the book. We brought that metaphor alive with our simple visual storytelling and character creation.
This review became popular not only online but for offline uses such as internal training within companies of all kinds.
Video Review for 10 Leadership contracts by Dr.Joe Currier
While working with Callibrain Inc., we’d occasionally get inquiries about creating reviews for independent parties.
10 Leadership Contracts by Dr.Joe Currier was one of the authors that came across our channel and wanted a video created in a similar style to our other videos.
His book naturally lent itself to this type of review style, as it was full of several clear and compelling ideas that just needed a little more life to digest them as a whole. This became the only video that we posted alongside all of our other book review content and was very enjoyable to create.
Review for the Power of Habit by Charles Duhigg
This review for the Power of Habit by Charles Duhigg came towards the tail end of creating the Callibrain library, and stood out as one of the more memorable and popular ones too. As the book title says, it’s all about the power of habit and how to build them.
By combining Duhigg’s strait forward and clear ideas with our own characterization and visual storytelling, we were able to create a review that took the viewer on a fun ‘journey of a productive day’ while delivering the powerful ideas of the book.
Additionally, there is some solid understanding about how habits can be built within organizations too. Our review was a quick, fun way to get some big ideas about habit creation to our audience!
