nick navatta - graphic recording and sketchnotes

Graphic Recording is the art of capturing and mapping the most relevant ideas from a speech, a group’s conversation, or any verbally communicated content via hand-drawn visuals.

This can be done on a large scale format with large pieces of paper, flip charts, foam core boards, and any other drawing surface.

On a small scale, it can be done with sketchbooks, digital tablets (such as an iPad), or it can be done remotely and digitally through online meeting platforms like Zoom and other video streaming platforms.

Graphic Recording brings a ‘live art’ element to any event and stands out as a unique and emotionally engaging addition.

Angela And nick Navatta: A gRaphic Recording Team Approach

We employ a team approach that includes the main person drawing, a Graphic Recorder, and a back-up support person that we call a Support Recorder.

In addition to a main Graphic Recorder, we provide a Support Recorder for every live, in-person event. Our own built-in support recorder is Angela Navatta, who compliments our main Graphic Recorder, Nick Navatta.

Nick, the Graphic Recorder, does the drawing and visual note-taking at your event.

Angela, the Support Recorder, takes back up notes, researches words and spelling, takes photographs that the graphic recorder cannot, and helps with pieces of the drawing process. The Support Recorder also acts as a liaison between the Graphic Recorder and any outside communication

The benefits of having both a Graphic Recorder and a Support Recorder on location include more complete and higher quality artwork, more accurate and precise notes, faster drawing time, and it leads to more engagement for your company when in client interfacing situations (i.e. conference booths).

And we don’t ‘double the price’ to have us both on location and working for you-we price comparatively to other practitioners in the graphic recording field and work to stay flexible while focusing on delivering as a team.

*Note* If your event requires something different than what’s listed above, please let us know and we will do our best to meet your needs

•Pre-Event Visualization and Planning

This can include considering color schemes, company logos, speaker caricatures, certain graphic elements, templates, or storyboarding for an event theme. Live recording of event sessions like keynote content, guest speakers or learning sessions usually require lighter pre-planning.

Conference booths  usually call for more creative planning on the front end. With our many years of being involved with longer, complex creative projects designed to create engagement, we excel at creating visuals that will engage and grab attention at conferences.

•Post-event digital image doctoring

We take photographs of all work created on the day(s) of your event. You are also welcome to take photos yourself and share them with us. Once we have the best photos, we further clean and doctor the imagery.

Image doctoring usually involves making handwriting more legible, colors and design more clean, and imagery more clear and strong. This service comes in handy if you plan on sending out photographs to event or conference attendees or if you plan to print the imagery.

What Are Your Graphic Recording Fees?

It depends on your unique project and event but I have two flat rates for half and full-day events.

Contact me to tell me about your project and event and I will  provide you with a quote for your project.

I look forward to speaking with you.

Nick
